What To Do In Chiang Mai
My Chiang Mai Adventure
What to do in Chiang Mai?
The city is a great blend of heritage, beauty, and modern amenities. I was there for three full days in January of this year. Here’s a personal account of my top experiences in this terrific Thailand city. Of course, you have more activities you can choose from in the city other than my itinerary!
1. Exploring the Old City Temples
One of the first things I did upon arriving in Chiang Mai was to explore the Old City. My journey began at Wat Phra Singh. I also visited Wat Chedi Luang, which once housed the Emerald Buddha, and Wat Phan Tao, a teakwood temple.
2. Wandering Through Chiang Mai Night Bazaar
One evening, I ventured to the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar. This bustling market has vendors selling everything from handicrafts and souvenirs to street food and clothing.
3. Experiencing an Elephant Sanctuary
Chiang Mai is renowned for its ethical elephant sanctuaries, and visiting one was a highlight of my trip! I had the incredible opportunity to feed and bathe these gentle giants. Learning about elephant conservation was both eye-opening and heartwarming.

4. Taking a Cooking Class
As a lover of Thai cuisine, I took a cooking class in Chiang Mai. I learned to prepare traditional dishes like Pad Thai, Tom Yum, and Green Curry. Nom Nom. The hands-on experience was educational and delicious, and I also made some new friends!
Chiang Mai Closing Remarks
Chiang Mai is a suburbia of modern delight in Thailand. It has a unique blend of ancient history and vibrant life. From exploring serene temples and bustling markets to trekking with elephants through lush mountains, there’s no shortage of things to do in the city.
Whether you’re planning a short visit or an extended stay, Chiang Mai has a lot to offer!
